Captain De Santa and the boy waiter from a previous mission are seen escorting two reluctant women. John approaches and questions their action. They are interrupted by Coronel Allende who tells John he has information Escuella and Williamson are riding with the rebel leader Reyes. Allende wanted to talk more but would rather take the women away and let De Santa do the talking. De Santa asks John to escort a train on a dangerous ride through rebel country. With a 20,000 peso promise and additional info about Javier Escuella's location, John accepts.

The other captain

On this convoy ride to Chuparosa you'll be riding shotgun with Captain Espinoza. Hop on to start the journey. You'll be given a trip skip option which will put you down the road little (for a reason). The discussion in between revolves around De Santa being nothing but Allende's maid and Espinoza being a respectable captain of the army.

Eventually Espinoza will comment about how quiet it is. An explosion will take out the two horsemen leading the convoy and then a group of three enemies on horseback will ride in from the right. Kill them. A little farther and three more will ride in from the right. Kill them too.

Espinoza will continue his skepticism and finds out the men in the convoy are new recruits. So in addition to moving important supplies through rebel country and having few men to protect it all, those men are also less experienced. Espinoza continues to piece things together regarding De Santa's views towards him and begins to have doubts about the success of this mission.

After making a turn into a small valley, three more enemies on top of the hills attack the convoy. Two are ahead (right of the road) and one is on the left. Take them out.

The convoy continues along the tracks towards Chuparosa with the supply train ahead. Espinoza asks why Marston chooses to help the army to which John says he needs information about Escuella - although favors have been one-sided so far.

The convoy arrives at Chuparosa. Get off the wagon and follow Espinoza to the train. A cutscene shows the two boarding the train and Espinoza telling John to man the Gatling gun. John resists but Espinoza insists to do what he says.

Another long train ride

The train will begin moving and Espinoza will tell you to get on the gun. He is still nervous about the ride ahead. You don't need to actually get on the gun if you wish. A rifle with plenty of ammo will do. A health meter for the train engine will appear at the top of the screen.

Not too long after leaving the town enemy rebels will appear. The first group of five on horseback will come in from the left. Kill them. Two more can appear on the left at the roadway while four appear a distance away on the right. Two more will appear just past the road on the left. At the second road the previous four will come close and be joined by two more from the right and then another two on the right and two on the left a little farther along the tracks.

When you reach Las Hermanas there will be one enemy on horseback to your left on the road and two more appear on foot at the small train station. Killing the horseman will make another appear. Another loan horseman will appear just past the convent and four will appear a distance away on the right. These are followed by two more from the right and then one on the left plus two from the right. Anyone you don't kill will run off as the train enters the tunnel.

We were just getting started

At this point, if you haven't been using the Gatling gun, it is in your best interest to get on it now. As soon as the train exits the tunnel there are two enemies on horseback riding alongside the engine on the left. Kill them and a replacement will ride up with another from the left and right as well. At this point the real fun begins. The enemies on horseback will begin to board the train in a continuous stream. Try to kill them before they jump on. If they do get on, they will stand up to find cover so try again. NOTE: If you do not get on the Gatling gun for this part, the enemies will shoot at you instead of boarding the train. Try not to kill the army soldiers as you can get a wanted level and bring unwanted (more accurate) bullets your way.

The rampage of horsemen will continue until you reach Casa Madrugada. Kill the remaining enemies on the train. Any new enemies will ride alongside the train and try to take out the engine. As you take out the horsemen, more will appear from the right to replace them. There will be about ten total. Keep killing them. As you head up the hill there will be four enemies with guns and fire bottles waiting on a ledge on the right. Kill them on your way up.

After that you are done. Ride the train to the camp while John comments on how crazy it was and that De Santa probably didn't think they would make it back. Espinoza asks if John wants to kill him or should he do it. John says he is more useful alive until he gets the information he wants.

When the train reaches the camp, get off and meet the base camp commander. A cutscene will show the commander thanking John for making the trip a success.

Gold Tips

  • Sprint to the wagon and get on.
  • After trip skipping, be ready for the ambush. Dead-Eye and headshot the ambushers for both waves.
  • Be ready for the second ambush and do the same. If you look carefully, you can take out the three attackers before they appear on the radar.
  • When you arrive at Chuparosa, get off the wagon and sprint to the train to trigger the cutscene.
  • For the first part of the mission, do not use the Gatling gun. Stick to your rifles and shotguns for enemies who get close to the engine/train. Kill the incoming enemies as soon as possible. Use Dead-Eye and aim for the head.
  • At the tunnel, get on the Gatling gun and use it to kill the stream of enemies trying to board the train. Do not hold the trigger and aim for the head. Killing the horses works too.
  • When you reach Casa Madrugada, get off the Gatling gun and switch back to rifles. Again, use Dead-Eye and aim for the head.
  • When you get to the camp, jump off and sprint to the marker.
