Nigel West Dickens is out of the doctor's office and back to selling his elixir. He needs help to push his product to new customers, though.

Give it up, old man

John walks up to the doctor's office just as Nigel is leaving and noticeably upset that the doctor does not believe in miracle cures. John laughs since he does not also as Nigel continues his salesman rant. Eventually Mr. West Dickens breaks character and asks John for his help. Nigel is broke but needs a young man to help sell his miracle product. He'll explain how on the way to a customer at Ridgewood Farm.

The show

Run to the driver seat of the wagon and hop on. Drive the wagon to the marker while Nigel explains his scam plan showmanship to you along the way. When you near the farm, Nigel will say he's dropping you off on the outskirts so it doesn't look like you two are together. You'll be strolling in when his show is set up and act as a volunteer to perform some feats. Drive into the marker in the road.


After the cutscene repeating the plan, run into the farm to the show marker. Another cutscene has Nigel selling his cure-all elixir in front of a small audience. Eventually he'll point you out (a stranger unknown to him) and have you take a drink. After coughing up a little, you are told to shoot a skull hanging on the porch of the farmhouse. Take aim and hit the skull which is lit up with a white glare. If you miss, a cutscene will show a disappointed crowd but Nigel explains that you are just getting used to it. You'll then try again until you get it.

During the next cutscene, a muscle head named Aquila will step up and doubt the spectacle saying anyone could make the shot. He challenges Marston to shoot his hat out of the air. You'll now have the power of Dead-Eye Level 2 which automatically picks targets for you. Wait for him to throw his hat into the air and use Dead-Eye to mark and shoot it. Again, missing will result in a cutscene with Nigel explaining you are not used to the power and to give it another try. You can only miss twice for this part. Third time must hit or else you will fail.

After putting a hole in Aquila's hat like he wanted, he'll then challenge you to a fight. Hold aim and punch him (same button to shoot your gun). Multiple taps of the button will create multi-hit combos. After a few good punches in a row you'll be given the option to ground tackle him. Doing so will make John tackle Aquila to the ground and you'll need to punch him a couple more times until he's knocked out. Same thing if you don't tackle him.

You shot his hat, you beat him up, and now he's a little ticked. He'll pull out a gun and try to end you. Enter Dead-Eye and move your sight over his hand with the gun. Shoot when it gets marked to disarm him. A cutscene will show an injured Aquila holding his hand while all the men of the audience scramble to buy Nigel's elixir and drink up. Aquila will then concede defeat and go buy a bottle himself.

In the final cutscene, Marston will tell Nigel that he's glad to be chasing cattle and murderers instead of people like him. Nigel then offers to use his wagon as a Trojan horse to get into Fort Mercer but first you'll need to see his old friend Seth near Coot's Chapel.

Gold Tips

• Run to the driver seat of the wagon and get on.
• Best way to drive a wagon is to tap sprint every 3 gallops. Don't run the horses out of stamina and stay on the road.
• Take the shorter (red dot) route to the farm. It will be a rougher ride, though.
• Sprint into the farm and to the marker.
• Shoot the skull quickly. You don't need Dead-Eye.
• Use Dead-Eye to hit the hat. Easiest way I found is to aim at the guys hat while he's holding it and move up (into the sky) until his hat is at the bottom of your screen. As soon as he throws it up, hit Dead-Eye and the hat should pass into your sight. Shoot when you have a little red X on the hat. It is possible to get it sooner if you are quick.
• Continuously punch the guy until he's knocked out. You don't need to tackle him, but it will be two or three more hits after he's on the ground.
• Shoot the guy's hand using Dead-Eye. Only his hand will get selected with a red X.
