Once again the fans have asked and Rockstar has answered in another round of "Asked and Answered" from Rockstar Games themselves! Check out some of the fanbase's burning questions about multiplayer and the upcoming Red Dead Redemption DLC's!

“Will you please release a new patch that allows people who haven’t downloaded the DLC be able to see the new characters....
I mean they can already see our new titles and our new tomahawks they can even pick them up so R* please fix this”

“Hi just wondering if you guys are gonna allow people that haven't got the new DLC to see other people using the new characters. I have the DLC but my friends don't so whilst I'm playing as Red Harlow, My friends only see me playing as the first cattle rustler. Is this going to be fixed?”received via Mouthoff

Never let it be said we don’t listen to our fans!
Due to popular demand, we are going to release a pack for free download on both Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network which will provide compatibility to allow those who do not have the Legends & Killers Pack to still be able to see other players that do who are playing as Revolver characters. Of course, you will still have to purchase, download and install the Legends & Killers Pack if you want to play as those characters yourself.
These things take some time to create, test and release – so please be patient and we’ll keep you updated as to when to expect it to be available – likely in the next few weeks.

“Hey Rockstar when are you releasing the savvy merchant and master hunter outfits?”received via Facebook
“When are the Savvy Merchant and Expert Hunter outfits going to be available?” - TXConfidenz
“Rockstar when can we expect the expert hunter and savvy merchant outfits?”Rodriguer2000

We are keeping our promise to get those outfits (and related Challenges) to you free of charge – and they will actually be included in the same free pack mentioned above. Again, stay tuned for info on exactly when that’s coming – but we’re working to get it to you as soon as we can.

“Do the new DLC maps only work for gang matches or will they also be available for gang shootouts?”xViL3x

Here’s a full breakout of the new Competitive Multiplayer locations and their accompanying modes:
  • Blackwater – Shootout, Gang Shootout, Gold Rush, Hold Your Own and Grab The Bag
  • Escalera – Shootout and Gang Shootout
  • Fort Mercer – Shootout, Gang Shootout, Gold Rush and Grab The Bag
  • Hennigan’s Stead - Hold Your Own and Grab The Bag
  • Manzanita Post - Hold Your Own and Grab The Bag
  • Punto Orgullo - Hold Your Own
  • Rio Bravo – Shootout, Gang Shootout and Gold Rush
  • Tall Trees - Hold Your Own
  • Thieves Landing – Shootout, Gang Shootout, Gold Rush, Hold Your Own and Grab The Bag

Additionally, the following original locations now have new Competitive Multiplayer modes available for play:
  • Diez Coronas - Grab The Bag
  • Pacific Union Railroad Camp - Shootout and Gang Shootout
  • Tumbleweed - Gold Rush and Hold Your Own

"Regarding RDR Free Roam: can you add classic Free Roam to your menu choices (the previous Free Roam version that had overhead Gamertags...)?" - received via Mouthoff

Also by popular demand, we will be changing this back to display overhead Gamertags in the next upcoming Title Update (1.04). Expect that within the next month.

“Is the tomahawk also for single player”Red_Dead_Herax

Yes indeed – it’s available for use in multiplayer as well as single player. In single player, up to 20 tomahawks can be purchased from Manzanita Post for $10 each. Once bought, you can guide John Marston through a series of Challenges to become an Axe Master, one of the Achievements/Trophies included in the Legends and Killers DLC.

“Is there going to be more DLC for Red Dead?”received via Twitter
“When is all of the downloadable content coming out for Red Dead Redemption?” - Funkdannyboy

If you’re already gagging for more Red Dead DLC goodness following this week’s Legends and Killers Pack and the previously released Outlaws to the End Co-Op Mission Pack, not to worry – we’ve got some great stuff coming..
We will have a full news update in the next week or so about further specifics on the next packs including release timing – but just know that we plan to keep Red Dead players’ hands full with awesome multiplayer and single-player action with releases into the fall.

“RS, here is a BIG question. What are u going to do about these "Level 50 5x Legends" in Free Roam? I have put down about 2 days and 14hours of Free Roam since release and just "Passed into Legend". Just passed last night. Now there is no way these ppl could of done that since release. This seems quite a bit unfair for those of us that are grinding out to reach such levels to see some ppl having it all.” - IRISHVANDAL
“Have the modders/hackers/cheaters been banned yet?” - Floppay

Oh, the ban hammer is coming. Yes it is.
As we’ve said last week, we are serious about making sure people have as fun, and fair a multiplayer experience as possible with Red Dead Redemption.
In addition to the title updates like the most recent one (1.03) which introduced some new anti-griefing measures, we are also going to be proceeding to ban obvious cheaters from the Red Dead online world for a period of our discretion.
Cheaters beware, and everyone look for an announcement next week with all the gory details.

“Correct me if I'm wrong but some stuff in Redemption reminds me of stuff in Revolver, like Bonnie reminds me of Annie, and Twin Rocks remind me of the... Second level in Revolver? =P Are this intentional "tributes", or did it just happen like that?” crazycat690

We’ve said before that we consider Redemption to be really more of a spiritual successor to Revolver than a proper sequel, but there are some aspects of Red Dead Redemption that are a direct nod to the 2004 game – most explicitly and obviously the addition of Revolver characters to this week’s Legends and Killers Pack, but right you are that Twin Rocks is in fact based on the second level in Revolver. Keen eye!
Random, fun factoid: we actually got the original Red Dead Revolver voiceactors back to record new lines for their characters’ appearances in the Legends and Killers Pack, with the sole exception of the dude who played Shadow Wolf, who had a scheduling conflict due to his Twilight duties.

“Hey R* what would really be nice for you guys to do with the online RDR is double XP for a weekend or at least for launch for the DLC.”SIApUaLLDaY
“@R* please do double XP. I’m Legend 2 and I just don't want to spend all that time and a lot of other people want it 2 please do double XP and great work on everything you guys rock”Gatorsurfer117

We're happy to oblige... As announced yesterday here on the Newswire, this weekend from 1PM Eastern today until Midnight Eastern on Sunday night, Red Dead Redemption online players will earn double XP.

That's all for now! If you have game-related questions or want tips, ask away in our FAQs or Red Dead Redemption forums!
