Complete Walkthrough For Red Dead Revolver
Check out our detailed walkthroughs, featuring text guides and screenshots which cover all missions and unlockables including every page of the journal in Red Dead Revolver.
Following the recent redevelopment of this here iRedDead.com fan site, it became clear we were missing a lot of content for the first Red Ded game - Red Dead Revolver. As shocking as it may seem, I'd never even played it prior to 3 weeks ago!
I noticed it was on sale in the PlayStation Store so I thought I'd play through it... And I absolutely loved it! Since then I've completed it about 8 times and know practically everything there is to know about the game, the characters and the various items you can purchase and unlock as you play through the 27 story chapters.
The game doesn't necessarily have or need a 100% checklist, but you'll essentially reach unofficial 100% completion by unlocking all of the pages of the Journal - which is accessible from the game's main menu and allows you to read up on everything in the game from characters and weapons to levels and your multiplayer stats.
Unlocking 100% of the Journal will require you to comple the game, beat specific chapters with "Excellent" ratings, complete specific chapters in "Bounty Hunter" mode (which is unlocked after beating the game the first time) and purchase specific items from the various shops you'll encounter throughout the game.
There's a lot of information about the game across various sources online, afterall, it was released over 21 years ago now, but I've taken the time to go through everything I could find and cross reference it with the PS4 version of the game to ensure we have the most accurate information anywhere on the web.
For example, many places suggest there's a cheat whereby setting your profile name to an empty space, and therefore having it renamed to "RSTAR" will unlock random items throughout the game. I tested this and found it doesn't seem to be the case and the 'cheat' actually makes no difference to the game whatsoever.
There's also a secret character you can unlock called "Manny Quinn" and the instructions for that vary wildly across the net, but if you follow the instructions in our guide, you'll acquire him for use in Showdown mode.
There are 27 Chapters in the story, with 6 additional "interlude" levels where you'll explore the town of Brimstone. Everything you need to get through each level is written up with screenshots in our extremely detailed guides. You can even read the transcripts from each of the cutscenes so you know what's going on.
Where possible, there are additional instructions on how to beat the levels in Bounty Hunter mode, and estimated target scores for the Excellent Rating, as well as rewards and unlocks.

Throughout the story, you'll earn money which can be used to purchase items and weapons from various shops. Some of these items are only available once throughout the whole game (although you can replay the game multiple times and keep your existing money and items), so you'll find the following guides very useful to ensure you know where to look for the journal pages you're missing.

The game features a number of unlockable cheats which can be used without any penalties, including Invincibility, Infinite Deadeye and Golden Gun (which essentially enables 1-hit kills on most enemies). To unlock them, you'll first need to beat the story to unlock Bounty Hunter mode, then beat specific levels and complete the requirement. Unlocking Invincibility, as you may expect, makes the rest of the game much easier. Read up on how to unlock the cheats below.

In addition to unlocking journal pages, you'll also acquire 40 characters and 11 levels for "Showdown" mode, which is the games' deathmatch-style multiplayer mode. Find out who or what they are and how to unlock them with our guides.

The mysterious Manny Quinn can be unlocked by playing Showdown mode and setting yourself on fire repeatedly... Our walkthrough explains more...

Finally, given the PS4 version of the game (which is essentially just a wrapper for the PS2 version you'll actually be playing) contains Trophies, although sadly not a Platinum, I've also listed the trophies and what you'll need to do to unlock all 13 of them.

Here's a selection of the almost 1000 screenshots and images I captured as I played through the game.
