The tradition of merging the supernatural, the futuristic, or the straight up strange with the setting and era of the Old West is one that goes back nearly to the dawn of the Western genre itself.

Rockstar will be featuring several recommendations of their favorite Weird Westerns throughout the next week or so that range from the classic to the campy, but today Rockstar presents some favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone that merged the West with the weird.

"The Grave" (1961)

Starring Lee Marvin, "The Grave" is regarded as an all-time classic amongst the many memorable episodes of Rod Serling's landmark TV series. On a frightening night of howling winds in a desolate Western town – hard-nosed gunman Conny Miller (Marvin) is dared to visit the grave of his nemesis, outlaw Pinto Sykes - a man who issued a curse upon Miller: if he ever sets foot on his grave, he will return from the dead to kill him. Watch what happens - the full episode is available for viewing at CBS.com (click the title above).

Other great Western trips to the Twilight Zone that are worth seeking out include:
"Showdown with Rance McGrew" (1962) - A 'phony baloney' TV western star finds himself up against the real Jesse James. A highly entertaining one, with more than a few humorous moments.
"Mr Garrity and the Graves" (1964) - A traveling huckster creates a stir in a small Western town with promises that he has the power to raise the dead. A great ending.
