Red Dead Redemption: Undead NightmareUndead Nightmare - Collectable Guide

Weapons

Published by Psy
Last Updated

There are 31 weapons to acquire in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. Read all about their stats and how you can unlock them.

In Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, you'll permanently acquire a weapon once you've picked it up. Sometimes this will be by collecting the weapon as a pickup from the ground, however more often than not it will be given as a reward after completing specific tasks like Survivor side-missions or saving a town.

A few of the weapons are quite rare and you won't have a lot of chances to acquire them, however the majority will be earned throughout the story and side missions.

There's no 100% completion objective tied to owning any of the weapons, however you will need to own a number of them in order to complete some of the Undead Challenges - for example you'll need the Rolling Block Rifle to complete Rank 5 of the Undead Sharpshooter challenge.

Table of Contents

Unarmed

There is only 1 unarmed weapon in the game, or two if you include both fists as separate weapons...

Fists

How To Acquire: Unlocked by default although you'll need to specifically select the fists from the weapon wheel otherwise Marston will try to push people instead of punching them.

Melee

There is only 1 melee weapon in the game.

Torch

How To Acquire: Given to you by the young woman during "Curious Tales from Blackwater".

Marston will use this to burn coffins during cemetery cleansing tasks. It can set enemies on fire, and occasionally will perform a 1-hit kill execution. You'll need to use it for some of the Undead Challenges.

Handguns

There are 8 different handguns for you to acquire.

Cattleman Revolver

How To Acquire: Automatically owned from the start of the game.

Volcanic Pistol

How To Acquire:  Save the town of Twin Rocks.

Semi-automatic Pistol

How To Acquire: Awarded after completing the "Missing Souls" Survivor side-mission.

Double-action Revolver

How To Acquire: Save the town of Tesoro Azul.

Schofield Revolver

How To Acquire: Save the town of Chuparosa.

LeMat Revolver

How To Acquire: Complete Rank 5 of the Undead Hunter Challenge (kill the Chupacabra).

Mauser Pistol

How To Acquire: Complete Rank 5 of the Undead Sharpshooter Challenge

High Power Pistol

How To Acquire: This one is very random to acquire and it's unlikely you'll get it by accident. You need to complete 4-6 tasks for the doctor (found in the wild at a camp with a gatling gun). He'll ask you to bring zombies to him, then potentially undead parts once you have the Blunderbuss. Eventually after completing a number of his random tasks you'll be awarded with the gun.

Thrown

There are 4 thrown weapons which you can unlock, but none are available before you gain access to Nuevo Paraiso.

Tomahawk

How To Acquire: Save the town of Manzanita Post.

The Tomahawk is unique in that it can be thrown or used as a melee weapon and will kill most things in a single hit. It's very useful for battling zombies as it can kill them quickly without using any ammo.

Acquiring the Tomahawk will unlock a new set of Undead Challenges.

Fire Bottle

How To Acquire: Save the town of Thieves' Landing.

Dynamite

How To Acquire: Save the town of Gaptooth Breach.

Undead Bait

How To Acquire: Given to you by Nigel West Dickens during "A Cure for Most of What Ails You".

Lasso

The Lasso is used to restrain horses, as well as humans or zombies who can then be hogtied.

Sniper Rifles

There are 3 sniper rifles, although the Explosive Rifle doesn't actually come with a scope. None of the sniper rifles have auto-aim lock-on, so they must be aimed manually.

Rolling Block Rifle

It may become available during a random encounter where you'll spot a pile of burning bodies. Sometimes a person in distress will spawn with this weapon too so you can kill them to acquire it.
