We expect most - if not all - of the weapons from Redemption to appear in Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar Games has stated there are "over 50 unique usable weapons" but didn't specify if this includes environmental things such as lanterns or explosive barrels (or even animals).

Pistols, rifles, shotguns, melee, and the popular lasso will return. Gatling/Maxim guns will see an appearance too. Cannons are rare but there.

Carrying Capacity

Unlike previous games you will not be able to carry every single weapon you pick up and have them magically appear as needed. You will only be able to carry a small assortment of weapons but your horse can be used as storage for more plus other items you may need out in the wilderness.

Maintenance

In Red Dead Redemption 2 your weapons are not standard tools that always work. In order to have them function properly you will need to clean and maintain them. Newer weapons will also need to be broken-in so make sure to test them out after purchase - or however you acquired them.

Dual Wield

Red Dead Redemption 2 will allow you to dual wield pistols or include a sawed-off shotgun in the mix.

Hunting

Weapons play an important role in hunting - not only for their stopping power but also how clean they kill. Larger guns will fall your target but foul the hide with large, bullet riddled holes. This means less money when trading the fur. Cleaner weapons such as the bow & arrow will yield better results.
