Nigel needs to raise some more cash for the assault on Fort Mercer. A race is easy money for him, especially when he won't be doing the hard work.

Packing up

John meets up with Nigel West Dickens at Ridgewood Farm. Nigel is moving what's left of his elixir stock into his wagon. After greeting each other they discuss Seth and their plan. Nigel says he is merely some help while John reminds him of his debt and the bullet that could be embedded in his skull. Nigel tells John that they need more money to buy fire power, armor for the wagon, and some extra hands. Unfortunately he can't sell more cures around here but a race is a good way to make some money. They'll discuss more on the ride to the race.

Gaptooth drift

Jump up onto Nigel's wagon. He'll start driving to Gaptooth Breach. You can skip majority of the ride. John and Nigel discuss Seth some more and a little too much about John's former and current affairs. They'll then talk racing for the rest of the ride.

After reaching the marker, get off the wagon and get on your racing cart. An announcer will give a short speech. Despite the talk of people dying, this is a fair race. You are not allowed to shoot other racers but you can knock them off the road if necessary. Eventually the race will begin. Get ahead and keep the lead. You'll need to win this one.


After you win the race Nigel will be waiting for you. Hop onto his wagon and he'll drive you both away from any upset bettors. Once again you can trip skip most of the ride. They'll discuss the race and how John wasn't completely welcomed to participate. Racing is serious business around these parts.

When you reach Benedict Point, Nigel will thank you for the help and say you netted a fine profit (despite the share he gives you). He'll also remind you of the need for firepower and that you should see another old friend of his named Irish in Armadillo. Truth be told he's an alcoholic arms dealer but what could be better? Nigel will ride off.

Gold Tips

• Jump onto Nigel's wagon and trip skip as soon as possible.
• When the wagon gets near the yellow marker, jump off and sprint to your cart. Jumping off too early will cause him to stop and waste time.
• When the race begins, sprint to the front and then tap sprint every three gallops to stay in the lead. Don't tire out your horse.
• Keep on the roads. There are a few tight turns and the cart can slide.
• Get on Nigel's wagon quickly and trip skip as soon as possible again.
