John has himself a gun but now he needs ammunition. Irish has a friend who can help with that - if he didn't get himself c-c-caught first.

Nun 'n gun

Irish is found in an alleyway in Thieves' Landing holding up a pair of nuns with a pistol. Upon discovering the situation, John removes the gun from Irish's possession and gives him a hit on the head. After a brief reintroduction and allowing the nuns to leave, John tells Irish the gun doesn't work. Irish takes the hint and says to follow him.

All shook up

Walk with Irish down the road. After a conversation about Irish's work habits among other things, he'll reveal that he has something set up with a friend named Shaky to get ammo at the local warehouse. Upon arriving at the main gate, Irish tries to open it but it's locked. Walk with him around the left side to the back. When you near the top of the stairs, a cutscene will show John and Irish walking up to the door and begin hearing sounds from inside. Shaky is shown tied up in the office with three men around him. When their interrogation of the intruder is unsuccessful, Shaky is beaten. Outside, Irish devises a plan for John to get Shaky while he gets a wagon. The two split up.

Go down the stairs and continue a little farther to the ladder. Climb up and to the right is another ladder. Climb up to the roof and go across to the open window. When you slide down the far side of the roof, the game will tell you to be quiet and sneak around - you don't actually need to until engaging enemies, just walk and don't run. Get inside the window and move to the right. A lone enemy will be standing outside the office where Shaky is along with the other three enemies. After a second or two he'll take a few steps towards the stairs, facing away from you. As long as you don't run you can easily drop down to the floor. The office door is open.

There are a few ways you can tackle this part of the mission:
  • Stealth kill - Equip your knife and sneak up to the guard. Aim and then use the knife which will trigger a stealth kill. This won't work with the others since they react as soon as one is killed.
  • Guard then office - Shoot the guard and then take out the ones in the office. You can run in or take cover behind the door.
  • Office then guard - Fastest in my opinion and easiest for maximum headshots: Enter the office while crouched, Dead-Eye the three enemies and shoot. Then kill the guard when he comes to the door.

But wait, there's more

A short cutscene shows Marston freeing a thankful Shaky. Just as Marston talks about the ammo, a shot comes through the window and they take cover. Back in control, kill the 6 enemies around the warehouse. Three are across the way at the same level as you and the other three are lower behind various crates. You can stay inside the office or move outside behind some crates for a better view. There is some TNT on the higher level too. Once they are all dead, move with Shaky down the stairs to the gate on the right side. He'll tell you to open it while he covers you. Press the button on your controller to do so.

A quick cinematic shows John opening the gate. Upon entering the yard, Shaky exclaims that there are more of them. Outside you'll find four enemies with one on the far left that's in the open, two in the middle moving between cover making for quick kills, and 1 on the far right who can be a small pain. For the fourth, if needed, go around the left of the crates where the middle two were and then along the wall to the fourth. He'll always run that path between the crates and the wall when you approach so essentially he'll run right to you this way.

Head back to where the first, left-most enemy was and through the crates where Shaky is headed. There will be four more enemies. One will move out of cover right in front of you on the left with a second directly behind him. The other two are on the right behind crates and will retreat to the ammo boxes if you get near. Kill them all and get to the ammunition.

Th-th-that's not all, folks!

A cutscene shows the ammo loaded into the wagon and Shaky parting ways with some nice words to Irish. Hop up onto the wagon and Irish will drive it out of the yard towards MacFarlane Ranch. On your way out, John questions how Irish is always missing from the action to which Irish responds that he isn't in it for the glory like him.

Not too far after the first curve of the road, 3 enemies appear from behind on horseback. Kill them. Another two enemies will appear behind you so kill them too. After a rest, a lone enemy on horseback will be on top of the bridge past a pond. Kill him directly or shoot his horse - either will buck him off the bridge to his death. Just after passing under the bridge there will be 3 waves of two enemies spawning behind you. Take them all out and relax for the rest of the ride. Irish will talk about making a more permanent partnership but John says he's had enough of liars in this life.

Arriving at MacFarlane Ranch, Irish tells John he has enough ammunition to take out a small country which John says is necessary for Williamson's army. Irish then talks of parting ways but Johns advises him that he'll be fighting at Fort Mercer alongside him for once. Irish hopes not to steal the all the glory. The final cutscene shows John dismounting and Irish saying they'll have Mr. Dickens’s wagon outfitted and ready to go soon. He then rides off.

Gold Tips

  • Follow Irish to the warehouse and then around back. Get up the stairs well ahead of him and wait.
  • Quickly make your way to the roof and inside. Walk but don't run while inside.
  • Headshot the guard and other three enemies however you like (see list above).
  • Headshot the six enemies around the warehouse. Outside the office has a better view than through the office windows.
  • Sprint to the warehouse gate and open it.
  • Quickly headshot both waves of enemies in the yard as noted above and sprint to the ammo.
  • The warehouse and yard is a good time to get headshots.
  • Headshot all the enemies on horseback. This is a good time to increase your accuracy if needed by using two body shots to kill them instead of a headshot.
  • If you run low on ammo during the chase, Irish has an endless supply for you.
