American Appetites

Part 1

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed the mission “Political Realities in Armadillo” to unlock.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

You'll encounter a young woman - Grace Anderson - in tears standing next to the sheriff's offfice in Armadillo.

Approach her and press Circle to "Talk to the woman".

She cries out "They took my boy!" before explains her son has gone missing and she's blaming "them people in the hills".

John asks her if the police can help, but she claims "they can't even help themselves". He promises if he finds him, he'll bring him back to her.

You're then told to "Go search for the boy by Hanging Rock".

Part 2

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "American Appetites" Part 1

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

A large purple circle will appear on the map North-East of The Hanging Rock, so make your way out there to investigate.

Search the circled area and you'll discover a bloody patch on the ground - marked by a purple question mark icon. When standing over it, press Triangle to "Search for clues".

John sees plenty of blood, a bone and examines a shoe, but the boy is nowhere to be seen.

American Appetites complete.

The game explains "Though you've completed part of this encounter, the story is not over. Check back at the Sheriff's office in the future".

Part 3

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "American Appetites" Part 2.
• Must have completed the mission "Justice in Pike's Basin".

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

A day later speak with a man on the porch of the sheriff's office.

If you want to avoid triggering Marshal Johnson's mission (yellow cross), you can climb over the wooden railing to the right of the sheriffs office.

The man explains he too has a missing family member, his wife Beryl, who was picking mushrooms near Hanging Rock.

You're then told to "Go search for the woman by Hanging Rock".

Part 4

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "American Appetites" Part 3.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

Once again, head North-East from the Hanging Rock and you'll discover a large purple circle on the map. It's on some reasonably flat land, just past what look like a dry river bed.

Marston discovers another pool of blood, this time with a human arm alongside a hat and shoe.

Press Triangle to inspect the scene.

American Appetites complete.

Part 5

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "American Appetites" Part 4.
• Must have completed the mission "Wild Horses, Tamed Passions".

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

Another day later there is another woman, this time inside the Armadillo sheriff's office.

Head inside to chat to her.

She explains her husband has gone missing out in the same place.

You're then told to "Go search for the man by Hanging Rock".

Part 6

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "American Appetites" Part 5.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

Head out to the purple circle, North-East of The Hanging Rock. This time you find a man waiting at a purple question mark which will appear as you get close.

The man, Randall Forrester, says a city fella broke his leg and ran off.

He wants you to chase him down and bring him back.

Chase after the attacker on foot or by horse. He's not far away when you start, so be prepared to give chase immediately. You can easily catch him on foot but a horse will be quicker.

Lasso the man to stop him, then get up close and hogtie him.

Pick him up and either put him on your horse or just carry him back to the injured man.

Marston drops the hogtied man on the floor near Randall.

In the cutscene it is revealed that the injured man is actually a cannibal who was about to enjoy his next meal before it got away.

Marston walks away with his hands up. His work here is done...

You are left to decide each man's fate.

• Allow the injured man to finish his meal by walking away, or...
• Save the man by hogtying or killing Randall and cutting the other man free.

In order to receive an honor reward you must kill or hogtie the cannibal and free the other man. Walking away or killing the other man will yield negative honor.

Killing the cannibal is optional. He'll no doubt be eaten by cougars or die in the desert sun if you leave him tied up, but you could speed up the process and pop a bullet in his severely damaged brain.

American Appetites complete.
