Aztec Gold

Part 1

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed the mission “Must a Saviour Die?” to unlock.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

Speak with a man (Basilio Aguirre Olmos de la Vargas) in Sidewinder Gulch.

He is looking for a certain rock to track down his family heirloom.

His great, great grandfather was given a map for an Aztec treasure somewhere in Nuevo Paraiso. Pieces of the map were placed around Mexico and Basilio is not a great adventure person.

That, coupled with his family's cries for him to return home, leads Basilio to needing help to find the pieces and get the gold.

He offers a reward for the help. After accepting you are given the current map piece and told to meet at El Matadero when all the pieces are found.

Unlike the ambient treasure hunter challenges, the locations of each of Basilio's treasures are marked on the map with large purple circles which give a rough idea of their location.

Part 2

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "Aztec Gold" Part 1.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

The first location is nearby in Sidewinder Gulch.

Run around the corner up the hill and get onto a ledge.

Follow it around where a small rock pile can be found.

Inspect the pile to find a map piece and some money.

Part 3

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "Aztec Gold" Part 2.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

The second location is out in Primera Quebrada.

You'll find it inside the ruined building.

Head inside the ruin to find another small rock pile.

Again, inspect the pile to find a map piece and some money.

There is also a chest in the room with approximately $20.

Part 4

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "Aztec Gold" Part 3.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

The third location is in Alta Cabeza.

On the northeast corner of a large rock formation among bushes you'll find yet another small rock pile.

Inspect the pile to find the final map piece and some money.

You're then told to "Meet Basilio in El Matadero".

Part 5

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "Aztec Gold" Part 4.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

With all the map pieces found, go to Basilio who is behind the butcher warehouse in El Matadero.

Upon receiving the map he is extremely happy and works out that the treasure should be located in the nearby caves.

He then runs off into the caves to track it down.

Part 6

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have completed "Aztec Gold" Part 5.

LOCATION:

WALKTHROUGH:

Head into the caves and make your way through to Basilio.

You find Basilio digging with his hands.

He wants to find his gold and with some help looks under a few rocks.

Unfortunately he finds nothing under there.

The treasure and Basilio's hopes of a better life are gone. He walks off.

This Stranger side-mission is now complete. Feel free to search a number of chests in the cave for some bonus cash as you make your way out.
